Music
Music plays an important part in school life here at Arbor.
We encourage pupils to learn an instrument and tuition is offered on strings, woodwind, brass, piano and individual singing.
There is a team of well-qualified and enthusiastic musicians who visit the school on a weekly basis. Music lessons run throughout the school day and are organised on a rotational basis.
Regular practice is a vital part of learning an instrument and parents are encouraged to take an active part in this.
Pupils are entered for Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall examinations when appropriate.
Music theory is taught throughout the school and within the Lower Prep plays an important part in lesson time as a foundation for future learning.
All pupils from Year 2 are taught the recorder as part of their music lessons.
With a wide range of public performances and concerts throughout the year, pupils are regularly able to participate either as individuals or as part of one of the school choirs or the orchestra.
We have a strong tradition of singing within the school with several children p assing autitions to the National Children’s Choir.
We are also extremely proud of our link with the St Edmundsbury Cathedral where a large number of our boys sing regularly in evensong services and key concerts across the year.
