Year 1 – Possums

In Year 1 the children continue to explore all subject areas, primarily using Montessori methods and practical hands-on materials.

All pupils continue to receive regular coaching with our reading and language specialist to reinforce and build on the literacy skills acquired during their reception year.

As part of the guiding Montessori principles, the children are encouraged to work independently using the carefully prepared materials provided to them.

Combining this independent working ethos with individual development plans, created by dedicated class teacher, Mrs. Chandler, allows each child to work at their own pace and realise their own potential.

With regular trips to local dairy and other farms, Ickworth Park during lambing season and a dig around at the dinosaur park the subjects they learn about certainly come to life!
